Pope’s Departure

This evening at 5:00 P.M. Pope Benedict XVI departed for Castel Gandolfo before officially resigning at 8:00 P.M. He left Vatican City by helicopter. Given our location close to the Vatican many of us went up on the roof to watch him fly away. After taking off he first headed to our left before doubling back around Vatican City. He then came right over us. We all clapped and cheered. Then when the helicopter became a dot in the distance we sang Ad Multos Annos.
